Software description

The aim of this application is to be able to statistically follow in real-time all the analyzers of a refinery, or an industrial site, with the help of calibration data as well as correlation measurements saved in the central information system. For that, it will have to be made accessible to the site engineers, connected to the network and have to present a very user-friendly interface.

The “Statistical Quality Control” software tool (SQC) for the validation of the analyzers is declined in two major goals:
1. Short term - real-time - validation of the analyzers online
2. Medium term - statistics - follow-up of the analyzers online compared to the Laboratory

In order to carry that out, it is planned to develop a software tool with the following characteristics:

• For Real-time validation, it is necessary that the whole of the online analyzers involved in the basic control diagrams PID (for example: Oxygen measurement in cracking furnaces), in the standard Process Control MVPC (for example: product quality control with APC), in the follow-up of process by the Operators (for example: Density) be validated on the whole scale of variation. Moreover, it is important that these analyzers be connected and correlated from the routine validations of the Laboratory. Such functionalities help the Operators to have confidence in the results provided by the online analyzers and use this information in Process Control.

• For the statistical follow-up, it is extremely important that all the online analyzers be checked compared to the Laboratory on a periodical and regular basis. Such information helps again the Operations to better use these analyzers and makes it possible for the Maintenance to quickly react if a problem occurs on an analyzer. It also helps to establish preventive, effective and optimized maintenance plans.

Thus, software tool SQC will provide the Refiners and Industrialists in general, with an efficient means to improve quality, to reduce the variation and to increase the profitability of their processes thanks to a sophisticated and precise control of their network analyzers. This software will replace advantageously several individual softwares and will centralize information, this one being placed at the disposal of everyone in real-time.
