At-line FTIR Analyser - Modem AS200

Main features

Integration

The system is supplied in rugged cabinet IP65 rating to accept outdoor location in harsh environment.General purpose or flammable area version ATEX II 2G certified can be supplied.

Cell & Optical fiber

The optical cell is a transmission type featuring the sapphire window lens connected to the FTIR analyzer by a Zirconium Fluoride glass optical fiber interface. The cell temperature is controlled at 35°C for single sample or toluene diluted residual material.

No reference channel is required as the reference spectrum is directly obtained periodically through the automatic cell flushing and validation cycle and the operating wavelength is located between 2000 and 2500 manometers (5000 to 4000 cm-1).
Flushing with N2 / Toluene auto-validation check-up is recycled between analysis cycles.

AS200 Spot sampler

Analysis

The analysis time is less than 1 minute.
When the spot sampler is clamped to the cell, the buffer gas (N2) and sample of both sides of piston are unbalanced and the sample chamber is fed at constant flow through the optical cell.

The corresponding NIR spectrum is collected using FTIR Spetrometer (permanently aligned with Quartz Halogen source, extended range DTGS detector. Patented wishbone interferometer).

The properties are predicted using Topnir model, complying with ASTM / ISO standards.

Processing

The architecture is designed around PC hardware and Windows ™ operating system.. The front panel keyboard and graphic displays allow the users to change, modify or edit locally the analyzer and calibration parameters.

The friendliness of the maintenance graphic display allows full visibility of flow sheet and offers fast learning.

Two levels of Data Interchanges to Customer Maintenance Acquisition System and Lab benchtop Inter Spectrometer supported by Data Highway are provided.

Crude-oil sampling is manually operated using the ISOSAMPLER 1500 or auto processed by the ISOSAMPLE 5100 to draw under pressure the sample into a floating piston cylinder. Sample collected is kept under pressure during homogenization, sub sampling and analysis at 35°C into the FTIR optical cell. This technology is specified by ISO 3170/71 as the best method giving analytical results that agree closely with on line analysis for split phase products.

isosample 5100

Bitumen and residues are auto sampled by the ISOSAMPLE B10 and continuously diluted at constant ratio in Toluene in order to keep the resulting sample pour-point below ambient temperature even for heavier vacuum residues. Manual sub sampling is achieved at ambient temperature for safe and simplified procedure and analysis into the FTIR optical cell operated at 35°C is resulting in spectra representing molecular structure of the mixture.
Bitumen or residue spectra are isolated and TOPNIR modelling applied for multiple properties prediction.

 isosample 1500

Lube-oil is auto sampled by ISOSAMPLE B10 without dilution and sub sampled in optical cell for analysis at 35+C.

*The at line FTIR analysis is mainly dedicated to crude oil identification / characterization, lube-oil and residual materials such as fuel-oil, bitumen and residue.
The system allows automatic sample grabbing, manual sub sampling and automatic analysis using FTIR and advanced modeling system.
